She spent several years working with youngsters in a juvenile training and education facility, where she gained experience in dealing with more demanding individuals. One of her larger research-creative projects is the one-week annual summer camp at Mašun, where she spends a creative week with young artists. She founded the Qulenium Cultural and Arts Society in 1999, where she works as the president, organiser, coordinator, mentor, choreographer, teacher, artistic director and producer.
Childrens' Dance Creativity - dance teacher workshop
At the workshop, Saša Lončar will present her method of working with children and youngsters, which is based on primary movement. Her activities utilise various creative processes aimed at awakening and increasing the awareness of the innate sense of movement, which she then helps to shape into a child’s personal dance style while working closely with him or her. An overview of the topics that will be presented at the workshop:
- Getting to know and trust each other (child/teacher and child/group relations)
- Spatial awareness and learning about movement skills through different levels in space
- Relaxation processes in a group of children and group consolidating through the use of contact improvisation principles
- Creative process
- Practical use of learnt movements in a choreographed dance piece
The workshop will also present gradual upgrades of topics, depending on the skills of the young dancers and an individual’s specific needs.

The “LITERATURE AND DANCE” choreography workshop will use literature as the basis for its creation and exploration. We will combine two artistic fields: dance and literature through specifically designed thematic classes. Throughout the process we will use the ideas, contents and forms from a designated piece of literature, thus creating the space for new learning, exploration, observation, experimentation and dialogue.
The practical activities for the participants will be based on their own and guided movements, dance and choreography exploration - ranging from improvisation to composition and choreography.
The workshop is open to all who are interested in dance, theatre and choreography in connection with literature and who would like to shape up their own procedures to create movements.
The workshop’s results will be shorter dance piece choreographies, which the participants are free to develop further and present at the young literature festival Urška, taking place on 21 October in Slovenj Gradec.
